tuesday

 It's 6:24am on a Tuesday...

I've decided that I need to take some time off each week from a few things.  Alcohol and porn.  I didn't consume any wine last night and but the whole day was obsessed with porn and porn-related materials.  So, today is day 1.   In the past, I've tried to abstain much longer but really I think having a few days consecutively of not doing it is sufficient....Perhaps.  I just need to be able to focus!  Especially, I need to develop this practice if I start WFH.

I still haven't heard from them.  However, I've been told these things take quite a while and there has been a huge meeting this past week so it makes sense.  Thanksgiving is like 16 days-ish away.  It seems that this time last year I was already decorated, partially, for Christmas that is some of the lights were up.  And perhaps the Christmas town was up.  But I'm not quite feeling it.  Its been warm this week...we have a tropical system coming through, I believe, starting tomorrow.  Although yesterday it rained when I got home, putting a damper on my run plans.

Tuesday

For some strange reason, I can't log into lazysunbathers today.  So I'll just have to switch this post over.

Week 5 is starting pretty pathetic.  While we did swim yesterday and we did get up early, I was over my bike ride last night and didn't do it.  Nor did we get up early to swim this morning.  My hips/glutes have been sore AF this week from running too much last week.  So I just feel defeated.  Thankfully my diet has still be point on but I'm just over working out it seems.  I doubt I'll run today because I'm still sore.  I just feel like a big who gives a fuck.  Is it the weather?  Is it still January?  I'm just in one of those moods where I wish I could stay naked all day in bed.  Thats all I want...oh and warmer weather.  And for CFI to be done with.

I just can't with the triathlon stuff.  I mean even though the swim didn't happen, I could still do that later today.  But getting on the bike for 1 hour makes me nauseous.  Or even a spin class makes me want to fucking kill myself.

I honestly do miss crossfit.  It was so much more exciting to go the classes with programming, change it up.  But I hate what it did to my body and my hips.  I just don't think that the triathlon training is something I can get back into.  I mean I did that for 15 years, I'm kinda of over it.

But I don't really know what i want, you know.  I really like circuit stuff, maybe I should try to do more of that.  I really want to do some sort of training that changes during the month.  Like January was cardio, what will February be?

Goodbye Halloween and October

Well another October and Halloween goes down in the books.  This year was all about the NYC trip.  Yesterday, I cleaned up a bit, and Steve mowed the yard, cleaned outside.  I made dinner, stuffed peppers (used turkey this time) and roasted butternut squash soup and we had two bottles of wine while sitting in front of the fire.  We had about 15 trick or treaters so it was a pretty busy evening.

Not sure what my plan is for the day.  I do know that I'm taking a bit of a break from alcohol for awhile.  I feel gross and fat.  I went for a run yesterday but my calf muscle started to tease up on me again...I really cant even deal with that to be honest.  I really want to run...I need to honestly.  I feel so gross....

UGH!

The Night Circus

I started this book in November 2011 and finally finished it. It was a long read. The author has a great writing style that really provided a detailed descriptions of different parts of the book, namely the circus. I guess I really didn't get the book though. Was it a love story? If so, the story fell short and I didn't really feel for the lovers. Was it a mystery? The competition didn't make any sense to me, nor did the purpose of it. The author spent the majority of the book trying to keep it elusive that I feel like she could have spent more time discussing it. The ending also felt very rushed and really ridiculous. A lot of the book was confusing and the reader had to just accept alot of the fantasy components as face value without any provision of why things occurred or existed (magic, powers, abilities, circus, etc). The worst of all, you don't really get to know any of the characters. In fact, after finished reading it in two weeks, I am unable to recall the main character's name. However, the author is talented in providing detailed information that allows the reader to paint mental pictures of the circus and for that I give this book a 2.75/5.

Spring In January

It has been exciting to see what will "pop" up in our yard as we experience the year of the different seasons.  We are not sure what flowers these are but they are beautiful.  They have come from ground cover.  Can't wait to see what spring will bring us.

Reedy Creek Greenway at NC Museum of Art

So this blog hasn't been updated as we had previously hoped.

Today's blog is about one of the - in my opinion- best greenway trails in Raleigh.  Reedy Creek Greenway.  Starts at Umstead Park and traverses through west Raleigh, through the museum of art, over I-440 and finishes at Meredith College.  My favorite 5 mile run is on this greenway which I ran this morning.  Steve and I also walked a portion of the greenway this evening enjoying the art.  Here are a few pictures.

Last Day In February

Today marks the end of February and in my mind the end of winter.  However, the last several weeks in February have been absolutely beautiful!  The last two days have been in the low 80's and have been great weather to take adventage of the outdoors.  Today, Steve and I took half of the day off.  I went for a quick 5k run at Laurel Hills and Steve went to Char-Grill (note from Steve... Jason and I were going to get lunch together in durham after I picked him up from work, but he couldnt wait that long and left me high and dry... and hungry!).  Afterwards we went to Glen Eden Pilot Park and took a few pictures.  Our goal is to post a picture of the day, we'll see how long that will last. :)

Right now we have thunderstorms rolling through and its wonderful to hear the thunder and see the lightning light up the sky.
